Alana Sivin Alana Sivin Senior Legal Analyst and Host Alana previously served as Senior Legislative Counsel to the Criminal Justice Committee at the New York City Council, where she focused primarily on drafting legislation intended to reduce incarceration and improve jail conditions. Prior to that experience, she worked as public defender at New York County Defender Services in Manhattan, where she represented indigent New Yorkers charged with crimes. She has spent much of her free time outside the workplace advancing progressive electoral campaigns—both by co-founding Amplify Her NYC and helping launch Tiffany Cabán’s campaign for Queens district attorney. Alana has an undergraduate degree in political science and education from Columbia University and a JD from Brooklyn Law School. Prior to attending law school, she worked as an elementary school teacher in East Harlem.
